About Valerie Harte

Valerie Harte has had a camera in her hand since her early childhood.  Inspired by her father's obsessive use of his Canon EOS to photograph every move of his family's life, she kept photography as a casual hobby through most of her adult life, photographing primarily her family and friends.  Shortly after her youngest son was born she discovered scrapbooking and began refining her photography skills to capture the transitory moments of childhood and family.  During this time she shot primarily 35 mm film and was asked to photograph her first non-relative wedding.  That first "professional" engagement sent the sparks flying again, though her IT Career kept photography on the back burner.

As with the rest of our modern world, photography went digital.  It was this marriage of technology and art that brought Valerie back to photography.  Once digital technology caught up with the quality and beauty of film Valerie left the 35mm camera behind and made the move to digital.   All images taken by Photography with Harte are taken in digital format and sent to a professional lab for top quality images.

In addition to photography, Valerie is a mother of 2 who thoroughly enjoys meeting a variety of people. Her focus is to help you relax during your session and let each subjects true personality shine.  Her goal is not to be a department store "5 shots, here are some props, cheese smile and go" type of portraits.  She would much rather let children play (and adults too!), take some time, LOTS of shots and capture the true soul of the moment.  The moments of your life are fleeting what better way to capture them than as they really are!
